Galaxy S27 Ultra leak reveals redesigned camera and rival comparison

New details regarding Samsung's upcoming flagship have emerged online thanks to a leaked physical dummy unit built from exclusive CAD files. Although the official debut of the Galaxy S27 series is still months away, this early look gives us a clear idea of what to expect.

  • A newly leaked Galaxy S27 Ultra dummy unit shows size and design differences compared to the iPhone 18 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
  • The redesigned camera bar moves higher up, allowing for better compatibility with magnetic accessories like MagSafe chargers.
  • The iconic S Pen slot remains at the bottom, and overall dimensions stay nearly identical to the previous generation.
  • Due to the new camera layout, existing Galaxy S26 Ultra cases will likely not fit the new device.

Redesigned Camera Bar and Magnetic Support

The most noticeable change on the Galaxy S27 Ultra is its redesigned camera bar, which relocates the sensors higher up on the rear panel. This layout leaves more room for magnetic accessories, potentially making the upcoming flagship much more compatible with MagSafe-style chargers and battery packs.

This could solve a common issue seen in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. While the current model supports magnetic accessories via Qi2 cases, its large camera bump often interferes with proper connection, leading to slower charging and excess heat. The updated design aims to fix this limitation.

Dimensions and Hardware Features

Despite the camera layout changes, the overall physical dimensions remain largely unchanged. The Galaxy S27 Ultra reportedly measures 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm, compared to 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9mm for the predecessor, making the new device just a fraction larger.

Furthermore, the dummy unit retains the integrated S Pen slot at the bottom, confirming that Samsung plans to keep the stylus. The device also appears to sit slightly more steadily on flat surfaces compared to older iterations.

Cameras and Case Compatibility

Rumors indicate that Samsung might drop the 3x telephoto camera, retaining a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP 5x telephoto camera. The new aesthetic bears some resemblance to rival devices like the iPhone 18 Pro.

On the downside, the new camera arrangement means that users upgrading from the Galaxy S26 Ultra will not be able to reuse their old cases, as most will require replacements due to the shifted camera module.
