Honor has launched the global version of its Magic 9 Pro Max flagship in Hong Kong ahead of worldwide rollout. The device packs the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a 6.8-inch OLED hitting 10 000 nits peak brightness, a unique 200 MP periscope telephoto with 3.5× optical and 200× digital zoom, and an 8000 mAh battery with 100 W wired and 80 W wireless charging. Sales begin November 19.
In brief - SoC: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (Adreno 850) - Display: 6.8" OLED, 1320×2868, 120 Hz, 10 000 nits peak - Cameras: 200 MP main (1/1.28") + 200 MP periscope 3.5×/200× + 50 MP ultrawide - Battery: 8000 mAh, 100 W wired / 80 W wireless SuperCharge - Pricing: 12/512 GB — 10 999 HKD, 16/1 TB — 14 999 HKD, on sale Nov 19
Display and build: brightness record The 6.8-inch OLED at 1320×2868 and 120 Hz is table stakes for 2024 flagships, but the 10 000-nit peak brightness puts the Magic 9 Pro Max at the very top. That headroom means legible outdoor use and proper HDR highlight rendering. The chassis measures 8.59 mm thick and weighs 233 g — reasonable for an 8000 mAh cell. Three matte-glass finishes: green, silver, black.
Camera: 200 MP periscope, a class first The 200 MP main sensor (1/1.28") is impressive, but the headline is the periscope: also 200 MP, 3.5× optical, 200× digital. Rivals like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra use 50 MP periscopes. Honor bets on multi-frame processing and a large sensor area to offset smaller pixel pitch. A 50 MP ultrawide and 55 MP front camera with ToF round out the kit. Support for external tele-converters and pro video rigs targets creators.
Battery and charging: why 8000 not 8800 mAh The global (Hong Kong) unit gets 8000 mAh versus 8800 mAh in China. Honor cites international certification requirements and the desire to keep the 8.59 mm profile. Charging speeds are unchanged: 100 W wired (0–100% in ~30 min) and 80 W wireless SuperCharge, plus 10 W reverse. Real-world endurance difference from the missing 800 mAh is negligible given the Snapdragon 8 Elite's efficiency.
Software, pricing and what it means for CIS/ Uzbekistan Ships with Android 17 and MagicOS 11. Hong Kong pricing: 10 999 HKD (~US$1 410) for 12/512 GB, 14 999 HKD (~US$1 920) for 16/1 TB. No official CIS/ Uzbekistan launch yet, but the global SKU means distributors will likely bring it in within months. With taxes and logistics, expect ~US$1 600–1 800 retail in Tashkent — squarely against the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Pro. The 200 MP periscope and class-leading brightness are the differentiators; service network depth remains the question mark.
