Huawei Prepares New OSTA Subbrand: OSTA O1 Pro and O1 Specs

Huawei continues to expand its ecosystem by preparing to launch a brand new subbrand named OSTA. Thanks to leaks from well-known insiders Digital Chat Station and Fixed Focus Digital, the first details regarding the upcoming smartphone lineup have surfaced.

  • Huawei's new subbrand English name has been confirmed as OSTA.
  • The first devices in the lineup will be the OSTA O1 Pro and the base OSTA O1 model.
  • The Pro version will feature a wide screen and a horizontal camera module.
  • The standard OSTA O1 will come with a quad-curved display and a large circular camera.

OSTA O1 Pro and O1 Specifications

According to insider reports, the higher-end OSTA O1 Pro will feature a wide-screen format reminiscent of the popular Huawei Pura X View smartphone in China. The device will be released in three color options: black, white, and purple. Buyers will be offered four memory configurations: 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and a top-tier version with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The Pro version will stand out with a horizontally elongated camera block on the rear panel.

Meanwhile, the base OSTA O1 model will adopt a completely different design approach. According to insider Fixed Focus Digital, this smartphone will feature a display curved on all four sides alongside a large circular camera module. This design contrast suggests that Huawei aims to cater to diverse aesthetic preferences within a single new product family, offering a choice between ergonomic flat-style handling and curved classic forms.

Context and Historical Parallels

The emergence of a new subbrand draws natural parallels to the history of Honor, which was launched by Huawei in 2013 as a youth-oriented and budget-friendly offshoot. As a reminder, in November 2020, Huawei was forced to sell the Honor business to a consortium of over 30 distributors and partners due to severe U.S. sanctions restricting access to critical technologies and Google services. The creation of the OSTA brand may represent a fresh strategic initiative in the company's hardware portfolio transformation.

Additionally, patent office filings reveal that Huawei had previously registered star-related trademarks, such as Huawei Star in 2023, and filed for the Starlight trademark covering smartphones and microchips in July 2026. However, trademark registrations alone do not always guarantee an immediate commercial release of final consumer hardware.

What This Means for the Market

The introduction of new independent or subsidiary smartphone lines always intensifies competition within the mid-range and premium segments. For consumers and tech markets globally, this could mean the arrival of highly capable devices featuring massive memory configurations and alternative design choices. Nevertheless, the ultimate success of the OSTA brand will heavily rely on competitive pricing and market availability.
