iOS 27.3 Beta Brings Back Apple's Redesigned Health App

Apple has brought back the redesigned Health app originally previewed in September with the rollout of the iOS 27.3 beta update. The new health tracking experience was previously tested during the iOS 27.2 beta cycle but was pulled before that software update officially launched.

  • iOS 27.3 reintroduces the redesigned Health app with new Insights and Longevity tabs.
  • Apple Intelligence is integrated to offer personalized guidance based on activity metrics.
  • A new Health Age feature estimates biological age across seven health categories.

Insights Tab and Updated Vitals Section

The newly introduced Insights tab consolidates recent health data such as Activity Rings, heart rate, sleep scores, and key vitals into a single view. Apple Intelligence uses this comprehensive information to offer personal guidance, giving tailored suggestions based on individual goals and workout routines. Additionally, users wearing Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 will see a dedicated readiness score on both their wrists and within the app.

The Vitals section has also undergone a complete redesign, now offering separate overnight and daytime views. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) has been officially added as a core metric, providing distinct readings for both overall HRV and recovery HRV to help users monitor their physical strain.

Longevity Tab and Health Age Calculation

The dedicated Longevity tab evaluates health data over time, assessing users across seven essential categories: heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement health, metabolic health, hearing, and nutrition. It features a standout Health Age calculation tool that compares biometric metrics against actual age using resting heart rate, VO2 max, HRV, sleep data, and blood biomarkers.

Health Age aggregates data collected seamlessly from the Apple Watch alongside fitness assessments completed at home via the iPhone camera. Apple also plans to eventually integrate a $119 laboratory panel from Quest Diagnostics, allowing users to effortlessly upload recent lab results and sync complete medical records.

Release Timeline and Availability

Apple previously indicated that the redesigned Health app would arrive in late 2026, aligning perfectly with the anticipated December release date for iOS 27.3. Please note that taking advantage of the newly overhauled Health application requires an iPhone model capable of running Apple Intelligence.
