You can now generate and edit Google Docs files directly in Gemini chats
Google has rolled out new file creation and editing capabilities in Gemini, allowing users to handle Google Docs, Sheets, and code right inside the chat.

Google has introduced a major update to its Gemini AI chat assistant, enabling users to generate, preview, and edit a wide variety of files directly within the chat interface without switching between multiple apps.
According to The Verge, the new capabilities cover PDFs, Google Docs, Google Sheets, slide decks, Markdown files, TXT files, and code. These new file editing features are rolling out starting today for all Gemini users worldwide.
The availability of these tools varies slightly by platform. While PDF previews and editing work seamlessly on both the web and mobile versions, other file formats come with specific platform parameters during this initial release phase.
This enhancement is particularly useful for professionals, developers, and students who frequently work with text documents, spreadsheets, and code, significantly speeding up workflow productivity through conversational AI.
For tech users globally, integrating document creation directly into an AI assistant represents a major step forward in how everyday digital tasks and content generation are handled.
