OpenAI doubles ChatGPT Pro usage limits and brings Work features to Chat
OpenAI has announced it is doubling Pro subscription limits and rolling out ChatGPT Work capabilities directly into regular chat.

OpenAI has officially confirmed a series of major updates designed to streamline its AI ecosystem and improve the user experience for professionals. These changes combine previously separated tools into a unified interface for a smoother workflow.
- Rolling out ChatGPT Work capabilities directly into regular Chat for an initial user group.
- Combining usage allowances across ChatGPT and Codex into a single Pro subscription pool.
- Doubling usage limits for Pro 100, Pro 200, and Pro 500 subscriptions starting October 29.
- Unlimited Instant remaining free from shared usage limits.
Integrating Work and Regular Chat Features
In the coming weeks, OpenAI will test a combined experience for the Chat and Work tabs with a small group of users. The main goal of this update is to allow users to transition smoothly from ordinary conversations to complex tasks without switching between different modes.
With this update, users can bring in files and plugins to ask ChatGPT to build websites, create presentations, or perform web tasks while guiding its work in one place. Meanwhile, Codex will continue to operate as a separate experience within the desktop app.

Another significant change for Pro subscribers is the unification of usage allowances across ChatGPT and Codex. Both services will draw from the same shared pool, though simple tasks utilizing Unlimited Instant will not consume the shared limit.
More advanced models and complex operations will draw from the allowance depending on the workload. Users will be able to check their remaining limits under Settings > Usage, with options to wait for a reset, upgrade, or purchase credits if needed.
What This Means for Users and Business
These adjustments follow user feedback regarding previous restrictions, leading OpenAI to double allowances for its Pro tiers. For developers and businesses relying on advanced artificial intelligence tools, this update provides greater flexibility and a more cohesive working environment.
