It is time for iOS to introduce its own version of Material You

Over the years, Apple has continuously added more customization options to iOS, starting with lock screen personalization introduced back in iOS 16. This was followed by icon color tinting capabilities in iOS 18, clear icons in iOS 26, and a full Liquid Glass slider in iOS 27.

The iPhone has certainly become more individualistic over time, which has been well received by users. Since we can already tint our home screen app icons, the natural question arises: why not extend that cohesive aesthetic to the rest of the operating system?

Similar to Android's Material You philosophy, a unified system-wide theming approach would allow users to tie their entire device interface together seamlessly. Apple has been moving closer to this level of personalization with each major software release.

For tech enthusiasts and everyday iPhone users alike, having deeper design control over the entire OS would unlock new levels of creativity. Personalization features consistently rank high among user demands globally.

As Apple continues to refine iOS interface controls, adopting a more comprehensive design engine remains an intriguing possibility for future software updates.
