ABT Audi RS5-R: 720 HP hybrid sports car released

German tuning studio ABT Sportsline has officially introduced a heavily upgraded version of the Audi RS5 named the RS5-R. The plug-in hybrid sports car delivers an impressive 720 horsepower and will be produced in a strictly limited run of just 130 units. The vehicle is available in both sedan and Avant estate body styles.

  • German tuner ABT Sportsline unveiled the upgraded Audi RS5-R with 720 horsepower.
  • Total system torque reaches an impressive 905 Nm due to engine and software tuning.
  • The model is offered in sedan and Avant estate versions with a total production run of 130 units.
  • The final price of the tuned car including the donor vehicle exceeds 180,000 euros.

Engine and Performance Enhancements

At the core of the RS5-R lies Audi's factory powertrain, featuring a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine paired with an electric motor. In stock configuration, this system generates 630 hp and 824 Nm of torque. Through ABT's specialized Power S software upgrade, the internal combustion engine alone was boosted to 583 hp.

The total combined output of the hybrid system now reaches 720 hp. The engine's torque increased from 600 to 680 Nm, bringing the total system torque with the electric motor to 905 Nm. While ABT has not yet disclosed acceleration times to 100 km/h, the increased output ensures enhanced dynamics, though top speed remains capped at the factory limit of 285 km/h.

Aerodynamics and Interior Design

Visually, the RS5-R differs from the standard model through an aggressive aerodynamic body kit. This includes a front spoiler with additional elements, front fender attachments, new mirror caps, and side skirts. The Avant estate also receives its own unique rear wing with dedicated aerodynamic elements not found on the sedan.

Inside, each vehicle features personalized cabin elements, including "1 of 130" lettering on special badges and door sills, along with microfiber trim on the center console and seat frames. Order books for the limited edition are already open.

Pricing and Future Upgrades

The styling and tuning package starts at 62,000 euros for the sedan and 65,000 euros for the Avant estate. The Carbon Camouflage finish adds another 3,000 euros, while installation, painting, and mandatory TÜV certification in Germany add at least 7,160 to 7,600 euros.

Consequently, the total cost of a fully equipped RS5-R including the donor car exceeds 180,000 euros. ABT does not plan to stop here, as the tuner intends to introduce a second phase of upgrades in the second quarter of 2027 featuring an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and engine tuning aimed at raising total power to around 800 hp.
