Blockchain infrastructure provider Chainstack on Tuesday disclosed that it was targeted in a cyber attack that allowed an unauthorized party to gain access to some parts of its infrastructure.

The incident is assessed to be part of a large-scale, artificial intelligence-powered attack campaign that recently came to light.

An external attacker gained unauthorized access to parts of the company's production systems. The breach resulted in the exposure of certain customer data and password hashes stored within the affected environment.

Chainstack initiated an investigation to determine the exact entry point and mitigate any ongoing risks to its blockchain infrastructure services.

The exposure of password hashes poses a significant security risk for platform users. Customers are strongly advised to reset their account passwords immediately and secure their accounts against potential credential stuffing attacks.
