Envision launches first 800V datacenter power system with over 98% efficiency

Envision Group has officially commissioned the world's first commercial integrated 800V DC power supply system. Located at the company's base in Xinghe, Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia, the facility began operations in August 2026 with a projected capacity of 3 GW.

  • Deployment of the world's first 800V datacenter power system with a 3 GW capacity.
  • Power supply efficiency exceeded 98% by eliminating redundant electrical conversions.
  • Over 80% of energy will come from renewable sources to support up to 1 million AI accelerators.
  • Copper consumption reduced by 45-60% and physical footprint decreased by over 30%.

Architecture and core technologies of the power system

The primary advantage of this development is the elimination of multiple sequential electricity conversions typical for traditional datacenters. The system integrates the TianShu controller, a solid-state transformer, a DC storage unit, and a DC/DC module. This setup converts 10 kV AC directly into 800 V DC, bypassing intermediate energy losses.

According to Envision, this approach raises total power supply efficiency above 98%, compared to 94-95% in conventional solutions. The high-voltage architecture also reduces equipment footprint by more than 30%, and in some configurations nearly halves it, optimizing spatial layout.

Resource saving and AI infrastructure scalability

The new facility in Inner Mongolia boasts a projected capacity of 3 GW. More than 80% of electricity is planned to be sourced directly from renewables, ensuring high environmental sustainability. Ultimately, the infrastructure is designed to power up to one million artificial intelligence accelerators.

Modern AI clusters demand immense power consumption, making a 45-60% reduction in copper usage critical for the industry. At full 3 GW load, an efficiency increase of approximately 4 percentage points will save hundreds of millions of kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

Implications for the global IT industry and datacenters

The emergence of such large-scale power systems marks a major milestone in the evolution of AI infrastructure. As datacenters continue to scale up computational capabilities, traditional power distribution methods risk becoming bottlenecks for industry growth. Envision's successful deployment proves the commercial viability of high-voltage DC systems.

For next-generation datacenters, energy efficiency and power density are becoming paramount. Innovations in power electronics will help lower operational expenditures for major tech giants and reduce the carbon footprint of the rapidly expanding generative AI sector.
