Google brings Quick Share SDK directly to Android and iOS apps
Google announced the Quick Share SDK at Android Dev Summit 2026, letting Android and iOS apps integrate peer-to-peer file sharing.

At Android Dev Summit 2026, Google announced a Quick Share SDK that will let Android and iOS apps directly integrate the peer-to-peer file sharing capability.
- Quick Share SDK coming in the first half of 2027
- Direct file sharing integration inside apps
- End-to-end (E2E) data encryption for privacy
- Offline functionality and Wi-Fi Direct support
Integration and User Experience
The Quick Share SDK is coming in the first half of 2027. Developers will be able to integrate file share functionality directly into their apps instead of requiring users to first open the system Share sheet and launch the fullscreen Quick Share experience. Activating Quick Share in third-party apps launches a bottom sheet where users can preview files being sent.
Security and Transfer Performance

The SDK automatically handles hotspot creation and leverages Wi-Fi Direct on supported hardware to guarantee low latency and maximum transfer speeds.
Offline Capabilities and iOS Support
The tool works offline even without a cellular network connection, making it ideal for constrained data environments. Google will also offer a Quick Share iOS SDK to extend seamless file sharing to iPhone apps.
Impact on Developers
This integration gives developers a powerful native-like sharing tool, bridging gaps between different platforms and enhancing overall application utility without requiring complex workaround solutions.
