Google introduces Android Family Hub for family management tools

Google has officially confirmed the introduction of the Android Family Hub, a dedicated space within Android Settings designed to streamline family management. The feature was highlighted in the latest System Services release notes for November 2026.

  • The new hub brings previously scattered family management tools into a single, unified location in Android Settings.
  • The design mirrors Apple's iOS Family Sharing, appearing right at the top of the Settings app.
  • The feature rolls out via Google Play services version v26.43 for Android users.

Streamlining family management on Android

Managing a Google family group on Android historically required users to jump between the Family Link app, the Google Play Store, and various Google account pages. This fragmentation made overseeing shared resources and parental controls less convenient than it could be.

Google is now addressing this by consolidating family management where it belongs. Recent testing spotted on Pixel 11 devices revealed a new Family option positioned at the very top of the Settings app, closely resembling Apple's approach on iOS.

What the Family Hub includes

Tapping the new hub opens a dedicated page listing all family members alongside critical details regarding shared subscriptions. This includes storage tiers for Google One, Google AI features, and YouTube Premium.

In addition to subscription sharing, the hub surfaces Calendar events involving multiple family members, current shared location data, and customized feature suggestions for the family manager, eliminating the need to download separate tools.

Availability and rollout details

The new Family Hub is arriving alongside Google Play services v26.43. While Google's release notes do not specify a precise list of supported hardware devices, shipping through Google Play Services suggests a broader potential reach beyond Pixel hardware.

As is standard with Google Play Services updates, the rollout will happen gradually over time, meaning it may take a little while before the new Android Family Hub appears on every user's device.
