King Slide controls up to 90 percent of AI server rail market
Furniture hardware maker King Slide has surprisingly captured up to 90% of the high-precision server rail market for AI hardware.

Taiwanese company King Slide Works, primarily known for producing drawer slides and furniture hardware, has unexpectedly become a key supplier to the artificial intelligence industry. The company now controls between 70% and 90% of the market for high-precision sliding rails used in server racks housing powerful AI workloads.
- King Slide controls up to 90% of the AI server rail market
- Rails are just 6.1 mm thick yet support over 40 kg of weight
- Gross margin reached 87.4% in the second quarter of 2026
- Over $600 million approved for a new manufacturing facility
Engineering demands for modern server hardware While these sliding rails structurally resemble common furniture drawer mechanisms with steel profiles moving on ball bearings, the requirements for server equipment are incomparably higher. Two rails with a thickness of just 6.1 millimeters must support an extended chassis weighing over 40 kilograms without deforming or jamming. Each assembly includes more than 100 parts, and the allowable dimensional tolerance does not exceed 0.02 mm. Particularly complex conditions arise in racks equipped with accelerators like the Nvidia Blackwell GB200. Server systems are growing heavier, while the rails must be made thinner to free up space for liquid cooling systems and pipelines. The failure of even a single component could lead to the collapse of extremely expensive hardware.
Financial performance and patent protection High manufacturing precision allows King Slide to maintain substantial pricing power and impressive profitability. According to published estimates, the company's gross margin reached 87.4% in the second quarter of 2026. At the same time, a set of rails can cost less than $100 while protecting equipment valued at hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. The company's competitive advantage is reinforced by approximately 3,750 patents covering stamping technologies, coatings, tooling, and locking mechanisms. Although King Slide faces competition from another Taiwanese manufacturer, Nan Juen, which also secured a spot in Nvidia's supply chain, King Slide's market position remains dominant.
Expansion plans and future outlook To meet the surging demand from global cloud providers and data center operators, King Slide has approved capital investments exceeding $600 million. These funds will be directed toward building the world's largest dedicated manufacturing facility for server rails. This success story highlights how traditional manufacturing sectors can capitalize on the artificial intelligence boom. By supplying critical infrastructure components for modern data centers, established hardware companies are cementing their roles as vital partners to tech giants.
