iPhone 18 Pro debuts with a variable-aperture camera and the A20 Pro chip
Apple's new flagship brings iPhone's first mechanical variable-aperture camera and a 2nm A20 Pro chip, starting at $1,199.

Alongside the foldable iPhone Duo, Apple also unveiled its traditional flagship: the iPhone 18 Pro. The design looks familiar at first glance, but the camera and chip bring one of the biggest overhauls in iPhone history.
The headline feature is a mechanical variable-aperture main lens. The six-blade system ranges from f/1.48 to f/4.0 — a first for any iPhone — giving photographers far more control across different lighting conditions and portrait shots. The camera is built around a triple 48MP array.
The iPhone 18 Pro runs on the 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip: the CPU is 18% faster and 30% more power-efficient. The 7-core GPU delivers a 40% graphics performance boost, while the 32-core Neural Engine processes AI workloads twice as fast as the A19 Pro.
Battery life gets a meaningful bump too — the 18 Pro now matches last year's Pro Max for video playback endurance. The phone comes in black, silver, glacier, and burgundy finishes, with storage options from 256GB up to 2TB. It ships with iOS 27, an upgraded Dynamic Island, and Siri's new AI capabilities.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, forming Apple's new flagship lineup alongside the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max.
