Chainalysis confirms data and live token breach for all customers
Blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis suffered a massive cyberattack exposing login credentials and live tokens of all users to hackers.

Blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis has announced that hackers compromised its network security, successfully obtaining sensitive personal information, username hashes, and live tokens for all of its users. The major security breach impacts numerous high-profile clients globally.
- The incident exposed data for all platform users, including major government and private sector clients.
- Attackers leveraged AI agent-assisted offensive techniques and an on-path data interception attack.
- Core services such as KYT threat monitoring and Reactor were temporarily taken offline.
- Mandatory credential rotation is being enforced for all customers as access is restored.
High-Profile Impact and Scale of the Breach
The successful compromise represents a major coup for the threat actors given Chainalysis's prominent customer base. Public sources and the company confirm that high-profile users include government agencies such as the FBI, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the US Air Force, alongside enterprises like Microsoft, Coinbase, and Barclays.
While Chainalysis initially downplayed the incident on Friday by claiming only non-sensitive details like usernames and roles were accessed, subsequent investigations revealed a much wider compromise. By Monday, findings showed that password hashes and live tokens for every single user had been exposed.

According to Chainalysis, the ongoing multifront cyberattack began in October when external actors used AI agent-assisted offensive techniques to gain unauthorized access to internal systems and tools. This initial foothold allowed the actors to escalate their activities.
Furthermore, an on-path attack—commonly known as an adversary-in-the-middle attack—exposed a subset of customer passwords. Although the company stated that the vector has been fixed, critical questions remain regarding whether the attackers managed to decrypt TLS-encrypted traffic and achieve deeper infrastructure control.
Incident Response and Customer Requirements
In response to abnormal activity, Chainalysis swiftly pulled down its login page, real-time cryptocurrency threat monitoring service KYT, and Address Screening capabilities. Access to Reactor and Data Solutions was also temporarily revoked.
By Friday, the firm began phasing in customer access for validated users. Customers are now required to submit trusted IP addresses for allow-listing and prepare for a mandatory credential reset once access is fully regained. Investigations continue while key operational questions remain unanswered.
