Google is about to remove free access to Gemini Flash and Pro
Starting October 9th, free Google Gemini users will be restricted to the Flash Lite model only.

Google is making significant changes to how free-tier users access its Gemini artificial intelligence platform. According to reports from The Verge, starting October 9th, anyone using Gemini on a free plan will be limited exclusively to the Flash Lite model.
Currently, free users have the flexibility to choose between Gemini Flash Lite, Flash, and Pro models. However, under the upcoming changes, users will need to subscribe to the $4.99/month Google AI Plus plan to regain access to the standard Flash model.
This strategic shift highlights how major technology companies are tightening free access to advanced AI capabilities. As server and computation costs rise, tech giants are clearly defining the boundaries between free introductory tools and premium subscriptions.
For the global tech community, including markets in Central Asia and Uzbekistan where AI adoption is growing rapidly, this means developers and enthusiasts must adapt to a landscape where top-tier models increasingly require paid plans.
Ultimately, Google's move marks another step toward the commercial maturity of generative AI tools, balancing mass adoption with the economic realities of running massive language models.
