Beget cloud infrastructure destroyed following a massive cyberattack

Hosting provider Beget is actively restoring its infrastructure following a massive cyberattack that severely impacted its systems. According to the company's latest estimates, file backups for virtual private servers (VPS) survived for only half of the clients, while the remaining data cannot be recovered.

  • Beget has restored over 60% of standard hosting and is rebuilding its destroyed cloud infrastructure from scratch.
  • File backups for VPS are available for only about 50% of users; the rest of the data is permanently lost.
  • Server restoration from backups is scheduled to begin on November 7.
  • The control panel is returning in stages, with billing and minor features to be launched later.

Hosting and VPS Restoration Status

Beget reports that it has already brought back online everything that could be quickly restored through cleaning, checking, and restarting servers. Standard hosting is currently operating at over 60 capacity. The most heavily affected servers will be restored from backup copies, though the process requires careful matching between backups and specific user accounts.

The company plans to start restoring the first servers from backups on November 7. While the process will be automated as much as possible, some users may need to participate manually. Beget promises to add the option to download individual backups directly in the control panel within approximately five days.

Rebuilding the Cloud Infrastructure

The situation with the cloud infrastructure is more complex, as Beget states it was completely destroyed and must be rebuilt from the ground up. The architecture and management services have already been restored, and the team plans to connect the first servers within 1-2 days, followed by integration and testing phases.

The control panel itself is being brought back online in stages, starting with DNS, domain management, databases, and websites. Some internal system information, including links between accounts and paid services, was lost and is currently being reconstructed. Billing and secondary functions will be enabled later.

Security Measures and Ongoing Investigation

Beget warns that threats to the infrastructure still persist, prompting the company to additionally check and restructure potentially vulnerable elements. Police, cybersecurity specialists, and government agencies are currently involved in investigating the incident.

The company continues to work around the clock to ensure all viable hosting projects are brought back online, prioritizing core functionalities before rolling out secondary features and billing systems.
