Yamaha NMAX E electric scooter unveiled for 2027 European lineup

Yamaha is expanding its electric two-wheeler lineup with a much more capable machine, unveiling the new NMAX E as an electric version of its popular NMAX sport scooter. The 2027 Yamaha NMAX E is being positioned as a 125cc-equivalent electric scooter, putting it firmly above the low-speed urban electric scooters that have made up much of Yamaha's electric lineup thus far.

Qisqacha - Yamaha NMAX E o'zining mashhur sport skuterining elektr versiyasi sifatida taqdim etildi. - Elektr motorining nominal quvvati 6.7 kVt, eng yuqori cho'qqisi esa 7.5 kVt ni tashkil qiladi. - 3.5 kVt/soat sig'imli litiy-ion batareya WMTC sikli bo'yicha 104 km gacha masofani bosib o'tish imkonini beradi. - Yevropa bozori uchun 2027-yilgi model sifatida ishlab chiqilgan bo'lib, A1 toifasiga kiradi.

Powertrain and Performance Specs At the heart of the NMAX E is Yamaha's new compact eAxle drive unit, which transfers power to the rear wheel via a belt drive. The electric motor generates a nominal output of 6.7 kW with a peak of 7.5 kW, alongside 33.3 Nm of torque. Its A1 classification places it in the same category as traditional 125cc combustion engine scooters rather than low-speed urban mopeds. Energy comes from a centrally mounted 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering up to 104 km of range on the WMTC Class 1 testing cycle. The low and central positioning of the L-shaped battery helps maintain an optimized center of gravity for better handling.

Charging Capabilities and Riding Modes Unlike many electric scooters featuring removable batteries, the NMAX E relies on a fixed pack configuration. Yamaha compensates for this with an integrated 800W onboard charger, enabling riders to plug directly into household outlets or Type 2 public AC charging stations for a 0-100% charge in about 5.5 hours. Users can switch between three distinct riding modes including Sport for rapid acceleration, Touring for smooth daily commuting, and Eco to maximize battery range. Regenerative braking, traction control, ABS, and a reverse gear are also standard additions for enhanced everyday usability.

Design, Technology, and Market Outlook Visually, the NMAX E adopts the unmistakable design language of the Yamaha MAX family, featuring dual headlights and premium styling elements. It includes a five-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity via the Motor On app, keyless ignition, USB-C charging, and illuminated underseat storage. While exact pricing and release dates remain unannounced, Yamaha is launching the NMAX E as a 2027 model aimed at the European market. This move highlights how established motorcycle giants are successfully blending electric drivetrains into mainstream vehicle lineages.
