Toyota sales grow in Russia in 2026: what you need to know

Toyota remains the most popular automotive brand among companies that left the Russian market in 2022. According to Autostat agency data, 30.8 thousand new cars of the Japanese brand were registered in Russia between January and October 2026. This figure represents a 44% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

  • From January to October 2026, 30.8k new Toyotas were registered in Russia, up 44% from 21.4k cars last year.
  • In October 2026, sales showed a slight negative trend of 5%, with about 4k new registrations against 4.2k a year earlier.
  • The Toyota bZ3X electric crossover outperformed the RAV4 for the first time in a single month with 983 units sold.

Market dynamics and sales statistics

According to Autostat head Sergey Zelikov, despite strong positive dynamics since the beginning of the year, October showed a minor slowdown. About 4 thousand new Toyota vehicles were registered during the month, compared to 4.2 thousand in October of the previous year. However, this 5% decrease has not disrupted the overall positive annual results so far.

While the RAV4 crossover remained the absolute best-selling Toyota model over the ten-month period with over 10,000 registrations, October marked a surprising leadership change. The new Toyota bZ3X electric crossover took the top spot with 983 units sold, surpassing the RAV4 which recorded 930 registrations. The Highlander secured the third position with 836 vehicles sold.

What this means for the automotive market

The success of electric vehicles like the Toyota bZ3X demonstrates evolving consumer preferences within the segment of brands that officially left the market. Alternative import channels continue to adapt to modern trends by bringing advanced electric models to buyers in the region, reshaping traditional sales structures.
